ജോർജിയൻ കവിത

 ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പരിഭാഷയോടൊപ്പം നൽകിയ മൂലകവിതയുടെ ലിപി കണ്ട് താല്പര്യം തോന്നിയാണ് ഇതേത് ഭാഷയാണ്, ആരുടെ കവിതയാണ് എന്നൊക്കെ നോക്കിയത്. സലോമി ബെനിഡ് സെയുടെ First Summer Letter എന്ന ജോർജിയൻ കവിത. 

First Summer Letter

All my half-remembered dreams

are of your cool hands

on my sunburnt shoulders,

your smile as calm as sand.

 

All the boats I trusted without reason

all the creatures of the sea

become our unexpected meetings

a rope bridge between seasons.

 

The taste of salt, the sun’s path through the sky

the parasols and boundless sea

are artist’s impressions

of what love could be

 

and my half-remembered dreams

are a dream of loss disguised –

my fingers on your broad shoulders

my smile in your warm eyes.

പാതി മറന്ന സ്വപ്നങ്ങളെല്ലാം വെയിലേറ്റു പൊള്ളുന്ന എൻ്റെ തോളുകളിലെ 

നിൻ്റെ കുളിരുന്ന സ്പർശനമാണ്.

സൗമ്യമായ മണൽത്തരികൾ പോലുള്ള പുഞ്ചിരി 

എന്തിനെന്നില്ലാതെ ഞാനെണ്ണിയ വഞ്ചികൾ,  കടൽ ജീവികൾ എല്ലാം

നമ്മുടെ ഓർക്കാപ്പുറത്തെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടലുകളായി,

ഋതുക്കൾക്കിടയിലെ കയർപാലം പോലെ. 

നാവിൽ ഉപ്പിൻ്റെ സ്വാദും  മാനത്തു കൂടി സൂര്യരശ്മികൾ വന്നു വീഴുന്നതും പാരസോളുകളും അതിരു കാണാത്ത കടലുമെല്ലാം 

പ്രണയമെങ്ങനെയാവാം എന്നുള്ള കലാകാരൻ്റെ തോന്നലുകളാണ്. 

എൻ്റെ പാതി മറന്ന സ്വപ്നങ്ങൾ 

നഷ്ടങ്ങൾ രൂപം മാറിയതാണ്.

നിൻ്റെ തോളത്തെ എൻ്റെ വിരലുകൾ,

നിൻ്റെ കണ്ണുകളിലെ എൻ്റെ പുഞ്ചിരി.
