Mountain Child

The mountain child —

a fragment of the mountain —

plays in the lap of the mountain

Toddling up the mountain

he plants his feet in the mountain soil

to rise like a mountain

in the land of mountains

The whole mountain

lives inside the mountain child

And in the lap of the mountain

lives the scurrying mountain child

The mountain child sees

a plane flying over the mountain

And he asks his father —

What is that bird?

മലയിലെ കുട്ടി- നിർമല പുതുൽ

മലയിലെ കുട്ടി - മലയുടെ ഒരു തുണ്ടു തന്നെ - അവനാ മലയുടെ മാറിൽ കളിക്കുന്നു. 

ആ മണ്ണിൽ മുട്ടുകുത്തി പിച്ചവെച്ചുനടന്നു തുടങ്ങിയ അവൻ മലയോളം വലുതാവാൻ മലകൾക്കിടയിൽ കാലൂന്നി നിന്നു. 

ആ മല മുഴുവൻ മലയിലെ കുട്ടിയുടെ മനസിലുണ്ട്.

മലയുടെ മടിയിലാണ് ഓടിപ്പാഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്ന ആ കുട്ടിയും. 

മലമുകളിലൂടെ വിമാനം പറക്കുന്നതുകണ്ട്

മലയിലെ കുട്ടി അച്ഛനോട് ചോദിച്ചു,

ഏതാണാ പക്ഷി?
